About Global Data and BI Global Data and BI is hiring on a rolling basis for Data, BI & Analytics and ML/AI projects for large corporations. Beyond consulting services, we build production-ready business platforms and SaaS applications that leverage modern cloud technologies, data analytics, and AI capabilities. We deliver enterprise-grade solutions with certified engineers in AWS and Microsoft Azure / Power BI technologies. Our focus includes transformation projects in the financial industry, custom platform development, and our proprietary Noème suite of products. Summary

This contract role sits on our Product Design and Engineering team, responsible for creating exceptional user experiences for our Noème product suite and data platforms. You will bridge design and engineering to build beautiful, functional interfaces for complex data systems, analytics dashboards, and AI-powered applications. From design systems to production code, you'll create meaningful experiences that help enterprise users make sense of their data and drive business decisions.

This is a great opportunity to shape the visual language and interaction patterns of cutting-edge data and AI products while working with a small, talented team pushing forward innovative solutions in the data and analytics space.

Contract Duration: 3-6 months (with potential for extension or conversion to full-time)

What you'll do (roles & responsibilities)

  • Join a growing team of designers and engineers to shape the user experience of Noème products and data platforms
  • Bridge a code-friendly design team and a design-friendly engineering team, translating design concepts into production-quality interfaces
  • Create beautiful front-end experiences for data visualization, analytics dashboards, and AI-powered interfaces using modern web technologies
  • Build custom tools and components that enable data experiences to scale across enterprise deployments
  • Develop and maintain design systems that ensure consistency across Noème product suite and client platforms
  • Design and implement interactive data visualizations, charts, graphs, and dashboards that communicate complex information clearly
  • Create responsive, accessible interfaces for data analytics applications used by business analysts, data scientists, and executives
  • Work with modern front-end stack including React, TypeScript, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and data visualization libraries (D3.js, Recharts, Plotly)
  • Collaborate with product managers, data engineers, and backend developers to understand data structures and implement optimal visualization strategies
  • Build prototypes to test interaction patterns and data display concepts before full implementation
  • Ensure interfaces meet accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and perform well with large datasets
  • Optimize front-end performance for data-heavy applications, implementing lazy loading, virtualization, and efficient rendering
  • Create design tokens, component libraries, and documentation for design system usage
  • Collaborate with marketing team on GDBI website improvements and landing pages
  • Work with clients and stakeholders to gather feedback and iterate on design solutions
  • Contribute to UX research efforts to understand user needs and pain points in data workflows
  • Implement animations and micro-interactions that enhance user experience without compromising performance
  • Stay current on trends in data visualization, dashboard design, and modern web development practices

What you should have (Must-Haves)

  • Exceptional front-end development skills, especially with CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React - you know how to build fast, beautiful, and accessible experiences using modern techniques
  • 4-8 years of design engineering experience on in-house product teams, with an outstanding portfolio demonstrating high-craft work
  • Strong experience building data visualization interfaces, analytics dashboards, or business intelligence applications
  • Expertise in creating responsive, accessible web applications that work across devices and browsers
  • Refined taste in design and thorough understanding of web typography, color theory, spacing, and visual hierarchy
  • Ability to work within design systems and contribute to their evolution
  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, or similar) and state management
  • Understanding of data structures and how to display complex datasets effectively
  • Comfort with ambiguity and early-stage product development; ability to turn vague requirements into actionable designs
  • Strong collaboration skills working with cross-functional teams (designers, engineers, product managers)
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment
  • Portfolio demonstrating shipped products with high attention to detail and craft
  • Understanding of UX best practices for enterprise software and data-driven applications

Nice-to-Haves

  • Motion/animation experience with libraries like Framer Motion, GSAP, or CSS animations
  • Experience building interfaces for financial services, analytics platforms, or enterprise software
  • Knowledge of data visualization libraries (D3.js, Recharts, Plotly, Chart.js, Apache ECharts)
  • Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) or understanding of analytics workflows
  • Familiarity with backend technologies and APIs to better collaborate with engineering teams
  • Experience working within large-scale, multi-product platforms or design systems
  • Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance considerations in enterprise software
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and how they influence frontend architecture
  • Experience with headless CMS and content management for marketing sites
  • Understanding of SQL or data query concepts to better design data exploration interfaces
  • Experience designing for AI/ML applications or working with AI-generated content
  • Background in user research or usability testing methodologies
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French (asset for Quebec market and bilingual product interfaces)
  • Experience with design tokens, Style Dictionary, or similar CSS-in-JS approaches
  • Familiarity with component testing (Storybook, Jest, Testing Library)
  • Experience with performance optimization for data-heavy web applications

Work details

  • Location: Remote (EST timezone preferred for team collaboration)
  • Contract duration: 3-6 months (with potential for extension or conversion to full-time)
  • Availability: Full-time commitment preferred (40 hours/week)
  • Reporting relationship: You will report to the Head of Product Design or VP of Product
