Summary

Our teams integrate into the client's operations. As a BI Developer, you will lead both the technical implementation and strategic direction of business intelligence solutions for enterprise clients. You will collaborate with C-suite executives, business stakeholders, and technical teams to design, build, and deploy BI solutions that are scalable, sustainable, and deliver measurable business value. You will bridge the gap between technical execution and business strategy, ensuring that analytics drive decision-making at all levels of the organization.

What you'll do (roles & responsibilities)

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise BI solutions including executive dashboards, self-service analytics, and operational reporting systems using Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
  • Architect and implement end-to-end BI platforms that integrate with data warehouses (Snowflake, Databricks) and cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Develop interactive, insight-driven reports and dashboards with exceptional data visualization and storytelling capabilities
  • Implement robust Data Quality Control (QC) processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and trustworthiness of analytics
  • Lead business intelligence strategy sessions with client executives and stakeholders to understand their analytical needs and translate them into technical solutions
  • Perform deep-dive analyses of business problems, build predictive models, and deliver data-driven recommendations to senior leadership
  • Optimize BI performance including DAX query optimization, data model design, ETL/ELT pipeline efficiency, and dashboard load times
  • Develop and maintain data governance frameworks, semantic layers, and reusable BI assets that enable self-service analytics at scale
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior BI developers and client analytics teams
  • Leverage AI and automation to generate insights, build intelligent workflows, and drive growth discussions with Product and Executive teams
  • Partner with data engineering teams to ensure BI solutions are built on solid data foundations with proper data lineage and quality controls
  • Lead BI tool evaluations, proof-of-concepts, and technology selection processes for enterprise clients
  • Establish BI best practices, coding standards, documentation standards, and deployment processes
  • Work with DevOps pipelines (Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD) to automate BI solution deployments and maintain version control

What you should have (Must-Haves)

  • Bachelor's degree required (Master's an asset) in Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or equivalent work experience
  • Must-have certifications: Power BI Data Analyst Associate or Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate OR Tableau Desktop Specialist/Certified Professional OR equivalent BI platform certifications
  • Minimum of 7 years of business intelligence and analytics experience, including hands-on development and strategic leadership
  • Minimum of 3 years leading BI projects or managing BI teams (formal or informal leadership)
  • Expert-level proficiency in Power BI (including DAX, Power Query, data modeling, Power BI Service administration) OR equivalent expertise in Tableau or Looker
  • Strong SQL skills for complex data analysis, optimization, and working with enterprise data warehouses
  • Demonstrated experience with ETL/ELT processes and data integration tools (Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Informatica, Talend, or similar)
  • Experience with Data Quality Control methodologies, data validation frameworks, and ensuring data accuracy at scale
  • Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language: Python, R, or DAX for advanced analytics and automation
  • Experience working with cloud data platforms: Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, or Google BigQuery
  • Strong understanding of data modeling principles including star schema, snowflake schema, and dimensional modeling
  • Experience with data visualization best practices, dashboard design principles, and user experience considerations
  • Proven ability to communicate complex analytical insights to both technical and non-technical executives
  • Experience working directly with C-level executives and business stakeholders to define BI requirements and drive adoption
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously
  • Proficiency in English (required); proficiency in French is a strong asset for Quebec/NoèmeX projects

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with Looker (LookML development) and modern BI platforms
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and machine learning concepts, with hands-on experience using Python (pandas, scikit-learn) or R
  • Experience with Azure Data Services (Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Data Lake)
  • Experience with AWS analytics services (Redshift, QuickSight, Athena) or GCP (BigQuery, Looker Studio)
  • Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) for analytics engineering and transformation workflows
  • Experience implementing data governance frameworks (DAMA, data cataloging, metadata management)
  • Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Quality tools and best practices
  • Experience with embedded analytics and integrating BI solutions into applications
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies for BI development
  • Experience with change management and driving BI adoption across large organizations
  • Background in consulting or professional services delivering BI solutions to multiple clients
  • Experience with financial services, healthcare, or manufacturing analytics use cases
  • Certifications in Snowflake (SnowPro Core or Advanced), AWS (Data Analytics), or Azure (Data Engineer/BI)

Work details

  • Location: Toronto or Montreal (Hybrid), Remote options available for senior candidates
  • Reporting relationship: You will report to the Product Manager or Director of Analytics (depending on project assignment)
